I don't normally shop at Walmart.

However, since I heard they are opening on Thanksgiving day at 8pm to begin their "Black Friday" shopping deals, I really don't want to shop at Walmart.

There should be some days that stores close to allow their employees time to be with family and to honor a National holiday. What's next? Open on Christmas Day to grab those last minute gifts?

I'm no a big fan of Chick-fil-a but they manage to stay closed on every Sunday to honor their religious values and they still run a profitable business. Walmart could at least stay closed on Thanksgiving day.

DONT SHOP AT WALMART....just like they dont have a sense of consideration for their employees to allow apropiate time with their family on a family oriented holiday. That is the reason why the working class opposes them. They have no consideration for there employee to pay them a decent wage and provide decent benefits. But instead they keep most of there employees at part time level so they would not qualify for a benefit package and then tell the employee "thats what you pay medicare for" . When employees raise their voice the company starts to intimidate the workers as if this was the 1800's and people had no voice. Its time to show WALMART that the working class and Montgomery County residents are not going to put up with oppression, intimanation and harassment by company that has already made Trillions of dollare of our backs and the working class.

It may also influence Walmart's treatment of the employees to join their protest. I am boycotting them because of their mistreatment. I will need to let them know why I don't shop there. I know it is very difficult for customers in Germantown to find other stores with similar prices so I don't judge the customers. I have heard that some of the employees have to use food stamps. What kind of insurance do they get? What does this view have to do with liberal or conservative views?

They dont have any insurance. The insurance they offer the employees is to go and apply for MediCare.

To those saying "they don't need to work at WalMart." it's not always that clear-cut. Maybe the other stores aren't hiring as many people? Maybe the employees don't own a car and the Wal Mart is on a bus route they can use? Lots of other factors could be involved. That being said - I support these people in their fight for a living wage; they're out there TRYING to make a go of it and earn an honest dollar rather than sitting at home on govt. handouts, I think they deserve help.

Unions suck the life form business. Ont he bright side, thanks to the UAW for bringing in robotics to manufacturing. Without unions robotics would have been a decade or more away form being economically feasible.

Joe, that's right a proud union member at that.... Unions are the live line of this country. They have fought for the very same benefits that you most likely benefit from. Such as overtime pay, safety on the job site, 40 hour work week, prevailing wages and list goes on and on. By the sound of it you probably never belong to a union and do not know a thing about what they do on the daily basis. So that make you a union hater. But yet reeping from the benefits they fought for.....So that actually makes you a hipocrite. And for your other comment about unions sucking the live out business. Your wrong too. Unions fight everyday for working people. You must think it's ok for business to step all over the workers, treat them like they are not human and pay them what ever amount they want if the business want to pay the workers. Well guess what my friend. Union will continue to fight for your fellow American workers. Ooh by the way If unions don't bring up the issue who will; You ??? Please. UNION YES.
