Greenbelt residents and local college students flocked to the Academy 8 at Beltway Plaza to view the first screening of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows."
"I'm stoked about the movie. I'm here at midnight because I can't sleep without seeing it!" said University of Maryland-College Park student Sarah Mihilko.
Adam Blake joined Mohilko at the theater because of his love for the films.
"It's sad that it ends after this movie, but I will be enjoying while it lasts," Blake said.
Most of the moviegoers bought their tickets online to avoid having to wait in any lines and to get a good seat.
Daren Lakely came to the midnight showing with a few of his roommates. This was his first time seeing a Harry Potter film.
"I just wanted to see what all the hype as about. I hope it's worth my money," Lakely said.
In this first part of the final installment of Harry Potter, the trio of friends, Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) work against the Dark Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) to gather and destroy the Horcruxes.
Many critics agree that this is the best Harry Potter film to date.
The movie times for Friday at Academy 8 at Beltway Plaza are 12:20p.m., 3:45 p.m., 6:45 p.m. and 10 p.m.
